Are you interested in being a CIT this summer. CITs work closely with the camp staff at a variety of our camps. A CIT (counselor in training) is a camper enrolled in a specialized camp leadership program. Through practical experience CITs learn about behavior management, risk management/safety awareness, communication, decision making, and team building.
The CIT program is meant to develop future leaders for camp and all other areas of life. Our goal is to give CITs the opportunity to gain confidence, pride and a sense of community and accomplishment.
Limited Space
We accept a limited number of applicants per season, and not all applicants may be accepted. Belvedere-Tiburon Community Recreation reserves the right to conduct interviews and reference checks of applicants and reserves the right to deny applicants.
Requirements
must have at least completed the 7th grade
required to complete a CIT application packet
required to get a letter of reference from a teacher, coach, youth leader, pastor or non-familial adult
required to attend our Leadership Assessment Workshop
required to attend our summer camp staff training
required to commit to at least 2 weeks
required to follow all camp policies
required to wear CIT shirt and name tag every day
Expectations
expected to participate fully in all aspects of camp life
expected to adhere to higher standards as CITs are role models for the younger campers
expected to arrive and depart according to assigned schedule
Duration
CITs may work as many weeks as they choose, but a minimum of two weeks is required. CITs may request to be placed in a specific camp however priority will be given to returning CITs. CIT assignments are subject to the discretion of the Camp Directors & Recreation Supervisor.
Fees
The fee for the CIT program is $100 for the summer and includes supervision, supplies, t-shirts, admission & transportation (if applicable). Please submit the $100 fee with your completed application.

Applications must be submitted prior to May 18th.
Due to the volume of applications, only completed applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Space in the CIT program is limited, so we recommend submitting your application early.
Please review the following before applying for as a Counselor-In-Training:
- CIT applicants are required to attend a Leadership Assessment Workshop on Sunday, June 10th. More information regarding the assessment will be sent when your application is processed. This is a mandatory workshop for all potential CITs. No exceptions.
- CIT applicants are also required to attend summer camp staff training on Saturday, June 16th to learn about the organizations policies/procedures and expectations this summer. This is a mandatory training for all potential CITs. No exceptions.
- Camps are structured with the campers’ happiness and, most importantly, their safety in mind. To ensure the camp’s quality, we ask that only those who are genuinely interested in working with children and are able to fulfill the commitment as outlined apply to be a CIT. The CIT assignment can be discontinued at any time if it is in the best interest of the program/campers to do so.

Campus Kids – Ages 3 ½ – 5 yearsLocation:Reed School
Qualifying applicants will have.….
·Completed their 7th grade year of school in June 2010.
·Be able to make a week-long commitment, weekdays only from 8:45 am – 1:15 pm
Angel Island Camp – Ages 5 – 12Location:Ferry to Angel Island daily
Qualifying applicants will have….
·Completed their 7th grade, preferably 8th grade year of school in June 2010.
·Be able to make a week-long commitment, weekdays only from 9:00 am – 4:30 pm.
