We are adding new activities and keeping the favorites. This will be the best Harry Potter Camp we have done so far.
Grades 3 – 6
This is a one week, half-day camp.
Welcome to Hogwarts Americana – the American extension of Hogwarts. Campers will be immersed in the fi ctional world of Harry Potter. They’ll start off by being sorted into one of two houses – Embredor or Firesong. During this magical week students will experience Potion Making, Charms, Muggle Magic, Care of Magical Creatures, Quidditch and plenty of games that will give them chances to earn points for their houses. Who will win the House Cup?
Classes
“Students” will attended classes specific to Hogwarts…
POTION MAKING
In this class students will experience basic chemistry and create some fun and edible “potions”.
CARE OF MAGICAL CREATURES
Create your own creature. Where does it come from? What does it look like? After creating the creature on paper students will have the chance to create it using molding clay. It’s their very own creature that they can take home.
DEFENSE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS
What animal does your Patronus resemble? Will it work on the Dementors? We’ll find out.
CHARMS
What happens when you use a laughing charm on the other students? What about a freezing charm?
TRANSFIGURATION
Transform modeling clay into magical items. Transfigure it quicker than the other students and you’ll earn points for your house.
Activities
“Students” will attended also take part in a number of wizarding activities…
QUIDDITCH
Are you a seeker, beater or chaser? We’ll be playing a nonflying version of Quidditch (because nobody wants to wake up in the hospital wing with Madame Pompfrey staring at them). Players will try different positions to find the right one.
WAND MAKING
Olivander is all the way in London so we’ll need to make our own wands. Will yours contain a Unicorn hair, Phoenix feather or Dragon heartstring?
WIZARDING GAMES
Earn some points for your houses by playing games like Giants. Wizards and Elves, Pass the Snitch, FFEACH, The House Fued, Immobulus, Who Am I and more.
STUMP THE PROFESSORS
Can you stump the professors with your Harry Potter knowledge? If so, you’ll earn points for your House. But beware, the professors know their stuff.
READY, ACTION!
Those students who enjoy acting will have a chance to gather together and create a Harry Potter skit. Perform it in front of the rest of the school for some fun and laughs.
DUELING
A student favorite! After learning some dueling spells you’ll get the chance to duel other students. Can’t remember the spells? No problem, they’re posted on the walls for reference.
And…this is only a part of what we’ll be doing during this exciting week. Space is limited and this camp is sure to fill up. Don’t wait to register.
Special Events
“Students” will attended also take part in a number of wizarding activities…
OWL HUNT
Owls have escaped the Owl emporium. We have been asked to find them. After all, how else are students going to get their daily owl posts?
SORCERER’S STONE CHALLENGE
As a team your House must get past Fluffy, the Devil’s Snare and more to find the Sorcerer’s Stone before the other House does.
THE TRI-WIZARD TOURNAMENT
Who’ll represent your House in getting the Dragon’s Egg, rescuing a loved one and making their way through the maze to earn the Tri-Wizard Cup?
ENCHANTED FOREST HUNT
A band of thieves have robbed Gringotts. As the Aurors chased the thieves on brooms over the Enchanted Forest the bandits dropped their loot. Hogwarts Americana students have been tasked with recovering all the gold. Find the most gold and you will be rewarded – but watch out for the creatures that lurk in the forest. Good thing we are searching in the daylight.
HORCRUX HUNT
This scavenger hunt only has 7 items that need to be found. Which House will find the most?
END OF TERM FEAST
We do not provide lunch except on the last day of camp. We’ll announce the winning House and have some pizza. We may also have a special potions concoction for our beverage
How knowledgeable do Students need to be about Harry Potter?
This is a question we get a lot. This camp will be enjoyed by any Harry Potter fan whether they have seen one movie or have read all the books. Of course, the more they know about the wizarding world of Harry Potter
the more they will enjoy their time at camp.
We have had students who have only read the first book. We also get students that have read every book multiple times and have watched all the movies. We find that they all enjoy the experience. However, if a student has never seen a movie or read a book they will not “get it”. We discourage parents from sending kids, who know nothing about Harry Potter, to camp with their siblings who are Harry Potter fans.
A word on “spoilers” – The Harry Potter stories are filled with wonderful mysteries and surprises. We know that not all campers will have read all of the books by the time camp begins. Just to be clear we talk about the entire series – a lot. Thus, we expect that there will be some “spoilers” for some campers. That said, it is our experience that having been “spoiled” does not keep kids from still enjoying reading the books and/or watching the movies
What Parents are Saying…
Here are some of the comments we got back from our Harry Potter Camp survey…
“Well done! My child really had a great time.”
“This was a GREAT camp!!!”
“It was the best camp I’ve ever gone to.”
“Thank you for creating a magical summer week for my boys. They were mesmerized by the camp…and found the whole thing to be the best part of their summer camp experience…This was just so unique, so filled with mystery, fantasy, positive messages and pure joy for 2 HP fans…We are grateful to people like you who help to celebrate the magic of childhood.”
“I think the camp was imaginative and so fun for the children..they loved the dressing up and the activities tied into the story lines of the books. Well done!!”
